Rollin 60s Background
The Rollin 60's Neighborhood Crips is a large African American street gang known on the west side of South Los Angeles, California. The Rolling 60's came from a clique lead by a man with the name Stanley "Tookie" Williams, this clique was known as the West Side Crips. The territory of the Rolling 60 Neighborhood Crips stretches from Slauson Avenue to Florence Avenue, which is between Western Avenue and around Crenshaw Boulevard. They fall under the Deuce (2x) card and the Neighborhood Crips umbrella. The organization is one of the, if not the largest African American gang in South Central, Los Angeles. Considering their large size, this organization is also home to many different cliques. There are four main cliques within the Rolling 60's, The Gutters, Fronthoods, and Overhills or Brynhurst Cartel. The Gutters, "Gku11ers," or Gutter Avenue roams in the area around 11th Avenue. Fronthoods or "Fronth60ds" roams around the area of Arlington Avenue. Lastly, Overhills or Brynhurst Cartel roams around the area known as Ladera Park and Overhill Drive, along with Brynhurst Avenue.

THE 60'S VS. THE WORLD On March 15, 1979, the leader of the West Side Crips, Stanley "Tookie" Williams was arrested for four murders committed during two separate robberies while on an alleged drug binge. Williams was then sentenced to death row, which would lead to his execution over 20 years later. In the same year his close ally, Raymond Washington, another founder of the Crips, was murdered in a drive-by shooting near his home. There was large hysteria behind the shooting, but there was a hole. Raymond Washington always made sure that he never walked up to cars, so whoever killed him was someone who knew who he was. Reportedly, he had walked up to the car prior and engaged in a conversation with the passengers. Washington's murderer was believed to have been a member of the "Hoover Groovers" or Hoover Crips, so this event would then lead to a outgoing war between the Hoovers and the Crips, with members of the Rolling 60's jumping into the war as well. This would not be the only early beef that they Rolling 60's were involved in. In the September of 1979, a 15-year-old member of the Eight Tray Gangster Crips,

nicknamed Bootsy, got into a fight with a teenaged member of the Rollin 60's Neighborhood Crips, named Tyrone, over a girl who had been dating both young men. Before this incident, the Eight Tray Gangster Crips and the Rollin 60's were close allies, they even participated in fights and shootings together against the Bloods. After the bickering between both members of the organizations, a new recruit to the Eight Tray Gangsters, eager to make a name for himself, pulled a gun and shot Tyrone to death. As a result of the shooting, Tyrone's older brother, a member of the Rollin' 60's, demanded that the Eight Tray Gangster Crips hand over the new recruit to be punished by the 60's and to prevent a war between the two gangs. The Eight Tray Gangsters were unable to find the new recruit, because he had already turned himself into the police. Because of these eerie events, the Rollin' 60's felt that the Eight Tray Gangsters were not being honest, so they retaliated in their slain member's name. One evening, the Rolling 60's were riding around before spotting a member of the Eight Trays sitting on his front porch. The 60's then hopped out of the vehicle and approached the male, firing six shots into his face. With both of these gangs falling under the Trays (3x) card, this would launch an ongoing war between the Deuces (2x) and Trays (3x).
